Charley Hull ‘Overwhelmed’ as Special Cause Extremely ‘Close to Her Heart’ Gets Unexpected Response

The holiday week is around the corner, and it is time to celebrate. While many people can easily be a part of the festivities, not everyone can afford it. And the golf community is coming together to help people like them. Take Talor Gooch’s Giving Tuesday, for example where he aimed to raise $24k in 24 hours. In a post shared on Instagram, the golfer said, “To give back hundreds of thousands of dollars to organizations and change kids’ lives.” Now it is Charley Hull’s time to do her part, and she already has a plan in line.

A few hours ago, she took to her official Instagram account and posted a video where she spoke about the launch that she initiated on a website called Raffal with her followers. Well, it does not come free of cost. To be able to enter her special raffle, one has to pay $6.37. But well, the money will not be raised for her profit. She wrote, “I have set up an online raffle to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which I hold very close to my heart.”

Hull has put up some special items, mostly signed memorabilia from prestigious events like the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 Solheim Cup, in the prize pool. It has almost everything from her TaylorMade bag to her Boxto golf shoes. All the money that will be raised will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is a children’s hospital located in Bloomsbury. It is regarded to be the largest center for child heart surgery.

Sharing a personal experience, Hull wrote, “More recently my trainer’s son @precisiongolfkate has been treated there and will continue to be for the rest of his childhood. His story is one of many who have benefited from the incredible work at GOSH. 100% of the money raised will be donated straight to the charity, so please help if you can.”

Her raffle is only eight days long and will be closed on December 15. However, she received an exceptional response in just a few hours. She took to her official Instagram account just a few hours after the post and thanked her audience. Tagging the link to the raffle on her story, she wrote, “I’m so overwhelmed by the response to my raffle! Thank you to all who have bought tickets so far. Let’s keep raising money for GOSH this Christmas.”

The golf world has always come together and made children feel special during the festival season. It has indeed been a long-lasting tradition.

A look back at some of the special holiday charity events hosted by pros

In 2022, as part of their annual Christmas celebration, Broome County Community Charities, Inc. and DICK’S Sporting Goods hosted a heartwarming event at their Vestal, New York store, inviting 20 children from the local Boys and Girls Club for a special holiday shopping spree. It was hosted by PGA TOUR Champions professional and Horseheads, New York native Joey Sindelar. Children, selected by the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton based on need, were each given $200 courtesy of DICK’S Sporting Goods to shop for essentials like sneakers, boots, and jackets. Before hitting the store, the children enjoyed a festive pizza party.

And not forget the Jim & Tabitha Foundation, of course. For twelve years, it has been hosting the annual Hope for the Holidays event, which helps provide relief to food-insecure kids and their families in Northeast Florida. Even last year, in November, several volunteers came together at the TPC Sawgrass parking field with a massive tent and arranged almost 70,000 pieces of food.  Hundreds of students, athletes, families, and local businesses in the Jacksonville area came together to pack a record-breaking 6,000 bags, each filled with 11 different food items.

“Our first year, we filled 250 bags,” said Tabitha Furyk, expressing her joy. “Now, for our 12th consecutive year of doing this, we’re assembling 6,000 bags of food, all of which gets distributed throughout the city.”
