Was the #1 ranked amateur in the world”: Jon Rahm looking to fill an open spot in LIV Golf team, analysts make their predictions

Although Jon Rahm’s team, Legion XIII, performed well in the debut LIV Golf season, one of the players faced relegation. Kieran Vincent finished 54th in the individual standings and was demoted from the league. This has left one spot open on the Spaniard’s team, with everyone speculating about the replacement.

In the latest episode of LIV Golf’s Fairway to Heaven podcast, hosts Jerry and Su-Ann discussed possible replacements and potential free-agent moves in the offseason. Su-Ann believed that Tyrrell Hatton would stay with the team, given his season performance.

A similar case applied to Caleb Surratt, who was picked by Rahm himself. All eyes are now on the fourth player, Vincent, who will compete in the upcoming LIV Golf Promotions. Ann mentioned that the two-time Major champion might be in contact with a few promising Spanish amateurs.

“I’m predicting he’s going to go young,” Jerry replied. “He’s not going to pick an available guy from the DP World or PGA Tour who wants to join LIV and could probably improve the team. He’s going to focus on youth and potential.

“I mean, this year, Caleb was the number one-ranked amateur in the world. He’s definitely going to look at that list before any other to see who he can get. So, I think he’s going young,” he added.

Speaking of individual performances, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton had outstanding seasons. The Spaniard won the individual championship and recorded two victories, while Hatton finished fourth with one win and seven top-10 finishes. Surratt finished 41st with three top-25 finishes, whereas Vincent managed just one top-20 finish.
