Greg Norman’s son sparks war among golf fans with outlandish LIV idea: “I’m not with you on this one”

Greg Norman’s son has outlined what he believes is an epic idea for the 2025 LIV Golf League

Greg Norman’s son has floated the idea of adding a new team to LIV Golf made up of weekly qualifiers. 

Norman Jr. made the claim on X as he reacted to the proposed changes coming to the PGA Tour in 2026.

Those changes will see the elimination of some Monday qualifiers into several events on the North American circuit.

Golf Channel reporter Brentley Romine has claimed qualifiers for the Sony Open, WM Phoenix Open, Mexico Open, Cognizant Classic, Puerto Rico Open, Corales Puntacana Championship and the Myrtle Beach Classic would disappear.

Elsewhere, only two Monday qualifiers will make it into the Valspar Championship, Texas Children’s Houston Open and Valero Texas Open.

The changes will mean the PGA Tour is even more cut-throat than it already is.

Golfers such as Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth, who sit on the policy board, have been accused of pulling up the ladder behind them as the number of Tour cards on offer are reportedly being chopped from 125 to 100.

So this means there will be fewer playing opportunities for professional golfers.

“For what it’s worth I’ve been preaching for awhile that LIV should absolutely open up weekly qualifiers for a People’s Team,” Norman Jr. wrote on X.

“A team that anyone can qualify for. If you play well, you stay on the team, and the general public can participate in shared ownership and governance.”

He added that players could rack up points over the course of a season and take part in the season-ending Team Championship.

LIV Golf currently have 13 teams of four in the league.

The remaining two spots have been filled by wildcards.
