While Scottie Scheffler & Co Enjoy Hiatus, When Will Rory McIlroy Tee Off Next?

Rory McIlroy has been playing pretty consistently throughout the entire 2024 season. He has appeared in nineteen events on the PGA Tour and he bagged two victories out of those nineteen. However, the last few weeks have been him coming close to victory and losing the trophy by a single stroke such as at the Amgen Irish Open, and the BMW PGA Championship, pretty much like the 2024 US Open.

While Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and the other PGA Tour players have gone on a hiatus, after the 2024 PGA Tour season came to an end, not appearing in the field of any of the Fall events, the World No. 3 kickstarted his DP World Tour appearances. Other than the previous two events, his appearance at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was not a successful one. Despite being a top player in the field he finished with a T25. McIlroy is now aiming for the bigger events on the European Tour.

According to the reports by Bunkered, the DP World Tour Pro will be appearing next in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the first event of the DP World Tour playoffs and the last event before the ultimate battle this year. The event is scheduled from November 4-7 at the Yas Links. The Northern Irishman will fight for a $9,000,000 purse.

The 4x major winner will come to Abu Dhabi with a goal in mind; “It’s no secret that I love playing golf in the Middle East and having the opportunity to play in these two events back-to-back will be a great way to end the season,” said McIlroy. “I’d love to lift the trophy in Abu Dhabi and have the chance to top the Race to Dubai Rankings again.”

After he is done there, he’d play in the DP World Tour Championship in Jumeirah scheduled from November 14-17 for $10,000,000, and the title of ‘The Player of the Year.’ Well, that is not just it for the 35-year-old professional golfer. Looks like his 2025 season already awaits a prior commitment!
