Bryson DeChambeau has a YouTube series called Break 50. There, he invites celebrities who have to putt nine holes under 50 shots and hit the challenge along with him in a 23-under par course. Whoever wins it, has to pay the money. But looks like this time, he was on the other side of the table. The bet was for The Scientist and not by him.

In a recent video uploaded by Crushers GC on their official Instagram account, the captain was challenged to hit 150 yards. He had to put the object in the hole in three attempts, and if he succeeded, he would win $500. But if he did not, he would have to give the same amount. More confident than ever in his element, DeChambeau said, “I know I can do it.”

However, the Crushers GC Captain actually failed to win the bet, and was about to end up losing the challenge, when he was told, “Double or nothing.” This gave him two more shots to try and make up for the win. The challenge was simple, it was to hit the ball at the accurate distance of -150 yards, not less not more. The Scientist at times hit it beyond the range, and at times less than it.

Unfortunately, he could not make it even after five attempts. He missed the last chance by just 1 yard (151 yards). A frustrated DeChambeau said, “That’s a yard off. What do I do to win money?”

The entire golf community thoroughly seemed to be enjoying the challenge as they flooded the post with witty comments.

Bryson DeChambeau went with his 45-degree pitching wedge to complete the challenge. These clubs are used for pitch shots from short distances and chip shots around the green. They are ideally the best choice for the balls landing softly on the green. However, a 150-yard is a long range.

According to a lot of his fans, the main mistake that he made was in choosing the club. Instead of going for the pitching club, he should have aimed for the driver, which gives better control, and also covers more distance in spin. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “That’s easy, I’d just tee up and hit driver”.

Bryson DeChambeau’s 2024 season is known for his winning ‘Bunker Shot’ at the US Open. This was hit by him from 55 yards, with a 55-degree wedge. He landed his ball short and it settled just inside 4 feet. It was a par even, exactly what he needed to gain a one-stroke victory from Rory McIlroy at the major.
