Lexi Thompson & Megan Khang Witness the Unexpected as They Become LPGA’s Fortuitous Twinnies

Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang were paired up for the second round of the FM Championship, but little did they know that it wasn’t only their tee times that would be the same. In what was to surely be reminiscent of their high school days, the two golfers turned up to the third round wearing the same tops.

Speaking to the press individually after the round, both were asked about this hilarious match-up. Lexi Thompson said, “The matching wasn’t planned, that’s for sure. She saw me on the putting green and she’s like, really?” The two were wearing pink tops that stood out on the green of the course.

Khang wore black shorts and Thompson wore a white skirt. When asked, Khang said, “Funnily enough, we did not plan it. We are matching. And I jokingly said, ‘You know, it’s a good thing that I wore black shorts because it’d be hard to tell who’s who out there.”

Indeed, the two of them were very much in sync on the course, as they both had the same scores in every round (70, 71 and 71). They both birdied hole 4 and parred holes 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. In Round Three, they matched up their scores of 71 with each other, which was 4 under par.

Lexi Thompson made the highlight reel with her eagle putt on the 2nd hole. She sank the putt from outside the green, roughly 20 feet from the hole. It was an uphill putt, and the ball rolled straight into the cup for an eagle. Meanwhile, Megan Khang carded three birdies and one double bogey, tying with Lexi Thompson at T13. They are joined by eight other players in this position, including Jennifer Kupcho and Andrea Lee.

With the FM Championship in its last phase, the golfing world is turning its gaze towards the upcoming Solheim Cup. Both Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang will be representing Team USA in the Cup.
