Bryson DeChambeau makes Olympics admission as LIV Golf star pays ultimate price
US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau may have doubled his major tally last month, but it wasn’t enough to earn the LIV Golf star a place on Team USA at the Paris Olympics
Bryson DeChambeau admitted missing out on the 2020 Olympics served up a “sad feeling” – as faces watching on from afar again.
DeChambeau was due to represent Team USA in Tokyo three years ago but was forced to sit out the tournament after contracting Covid-19 one week before the Games. The American would dearly have loved to rectify that this summer but his status at a LIV Golf athlete meant it was always unlikely that he would be going to the French capital.
Despite winning his second US Open last month, DeChambeau sits at No. 9 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWFR), which is behind the four Americans who made the team — Scottie Scheffler at No. 1, Xander Schauffele at No. 2, Wyndham Clark at No. 5 and Collin Morikawa at No. 6.
