The 31-year-old fan favorite revealed he and his wife Annie Spieth are expecting their third child in July, making this tournament not just a career test, but a personal milestone as well.

Spieth, who underwent wrist surgery in August 2024, has been gradually working his way back into form. His recent T-7 finish at the Memorial Tournament was one of his best this season and signals promise ahead of the notoriously tough U.S. Open layout. Still, Spieth hasn’t finished inside the top 20 at the event in his last three attempts, including a T-41 finish in 2024.

Appearing recently on The Smylie Show, hosted by former pro golfer Smylie Kaufman, Spieth opened up about his post-surgery downtime. “I probably watched more football than I ever have. A lot of family time,” Spieth said. “My son turned three in November… my daughter turned one in September… and we’ve got a third coming in July. So, it’s busy.”

Despite the demands off the course, Spieth has managed to remain a steady presence on the PGA Tour. He finished T-14 at the Masters, his best major finish since 2023, and continues to push for another signature win. His last major victory came at The Open in 2017.
