“It’s My Best Year So Far” – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Aim for the ATP Finals 2025 Trophy as They Race Toward a Blockbuster Finish

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner may be sharing the semifinal stage in Turin this week, but their motivations differ sharply as both chase the year-end crown. Speaking to CNN’s Amanda Davies, the two stars broke down how they are balancing title ambitions, ranking stakes, and the emotional weight of a season that has shaped them in very different ways. With both men standing at 2-0 in the group stage and already qualified for the semifinals, the race for the year-end crown forms the core of what could become a pivotal week in their careers.

Inside the Final Push for the Year-End Crown

Sinner arrived in Turin as last year’s undefeated champion, but this season the early advantage sits with Alcaraz. The Spaniard holds a narrow lead in the live rankings and with his win over Lorenzo Musetti, he has sealed his year-end No. 1 ranking. His campaign began with a confident victory over Australia’s Alex de Minaur, followed by another strong result against Taylor Fritz.

Alcaraz, who has captured eight titles this year, sees Turin as the final piece in what he believes is his most complete season. “I can’t hide the results. It’s my best year so far without a doubt in terms of level, in terms of consistency,” he acknowledges. “I saw myself grow up a lot since the last year to understand some situations, to realize what I have to do to get to know myself even more and what I need off the court.”

CNN’s Davies asked him directly how he weighs the Finals trophy against the year-end ranking. His response was simple. “It comes greater for me, because obviously I got to do really good response here, if to end number one. So for me the goals are quite the same.”

Sinner, meanwhile, will play in the semifinals with a 28-match indoor winning streak and enormous expectations from the home crowd. His path to No. 1 is narrower but he must repeat last year’s perfect run and lift the trophy again. Yet he embraces the weight of the moment.

“There is for sure this extra motivation and some pressure so it’s a privilege to be in this position,” Sinner says. “It’s also a privilege to be in this position and something great to finish with a win or with the incredibly big trophy. You also don’t have to forget how the season went and everything we both have done for the two years.”
