Amanda Balionis makes sly Rory McIlroy dig after ‘really bad look’ following dismal PGA Championship showing

CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis appeared to take a subtle swipe at Rory McIlroy during her post-round interview with Bryson DeChambeau at the PGA Championship.

As their conversation concluded, Balionis told DeChambeau: “Thank you for taking the time — I know you don’t have to take the time, but we appreciate it,” a comment widely interpreted as a veiled dig at McIlroy.

McIlroy reportedly declined media requests for the fourth consecutive day at Quail Hollow, an unusual move for the Northern Irish golfer.

This was his first major appearance since completing the career Grand Slam, making his absence from press engagements particularly notable.

While McIlroy is typically generous with media time, his decision to shun journalists throughout the high-profile event drew criticism, including from fans who accused him of a ‘really bad look’.

McIlroy’s performance at the PGA Championship fell short of expectations, with rounds of 74, 69, 72, and 72 to finish three over par in a tie for 47th.

His struggles may have been linked to a last-minute driver change after his TaylorMade Qi10 Driver was deemed “non-conforming” during the USGA’s CT test on the Tuesday before the tournament.

In stark contrast to McIlroy, DeChambeau demonstrated a willingness to engage with the media despite finishing second at the championship.

The LIV Golf star not only participated in post-round interviews but also reportedly stayed behind to sign autographs for fans, highlighting the difference in approach between the two high-profile golfers during the tournament.
