Local students had a chance to try out a new putting green donated by golfer Jordan Spieth’s foundation to the Cobbs Creek Golf and Education Campus currently under development.

Thirteen-time PGA Tour winner Jordan Spieth led some young golfers in a golf game on May 5 using a  $250,000 putting green his foundation recently donated to the Cobbs Creek Golf Course.

Spieth spent part of his day at the course mentoring students on the new junior golf putting green donated through the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, writes  Alicia Roberts and Jim McHugh for CBS News Philadelphia.

The donated green is part of more than $750,000 in funding from the Truist Championship to the Cobbs Creek Foundation.

The Cobbs Creek course is undergoing $150 million in renovations and expansion to become the Cobbs Creek Golf and Education Campus in West Philadelphia and Upper Darby.

“We’re dedicated to supporting our communities in which we host events and make a lasting impact. Our partnership with the Cobbs Creek Foundation is a prime example of this – investing in golf, education, and community development,” said Joie Chitwood, the executive director of the 2025 Truist Championship.

Chitwood hopes to welcome new faces to golf, giving them access to the same opportunities to play as the pros.
