Rickie Fowler shares general consensus of how PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars feel about merger

Discussions around the PGA Tour and LIV Golf merger are still ongoing with no resolution in sight which means the best players in the world rarely get together

Rickie Fowler says PGA Tour and LIV Golf players all want to put golf’s divide behind them and get the best competing with the best again. The 36-year-old also has no doubts he made the right decision in snubbing Saudi’s millions.

The fractured golf ecosystem has meant players and fans are only treated to heavyweight clashes at the majors. Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau’s recent back-and-forth is a prime example of this. After the LIV Golf star won the battle at the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour hero got his revenge at this year’s Masters. Although it wasn’t without a little needle from the American.

Asked what the general consensus is among him and his peers on the Tour, Fowler told Mirror US Sports, “I think it’s something that all of us want behind us in a way. Figure out one less thing to worry about.

“We all want to be playing against every one of the best players, but you know, those guys that made a decision to go over there, we don’t know how long it’s going to be, but I would say, general consensus, yeah, we all want to be playing together.

“How do we get to that point? I don’t know, but it would be nice to get to that. I think the game of golf would be better off and, like I said, less things to worry about and just go play golf.”

Asked if he made the right decision, Fowler responded firmly, “Yeah. We’re happy with where we’re at,” before adding in no uncertain terms that the PGA is the better of the two tours.
