Rory McIlroy recently broke his Masters curse to claim a first Green Jacket, with his rival Keegan Bradley now revealing his thoughts on the Northern Irishman’s triumph

Keegan Bradley has opened up about his support for Rory McIlroy during the Masters.

American golfer Bradler admits he was among the many “nervous” spectators rooting for the Northern Irishman to clinch his first victory at Augusta National. He got to witness just that as McIlroy edged out Justin Rose in a thrilling playoff to claim his long-awaited first green jacket and end an 11-year wait for a major title.

The triumph placed McIlroy among golfing greats such as Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods, becoming one of the few players ever to complete the career Grand Slam.

Bradley, who was recently McIlroy’s team-mate in TGL, spoke about the immense pressure on McIlroy’s shoulders during the Masters, given his close calls and meltdowns at Augusta in the past.

The U.S. Ryder Cup captain for 2025 joined countless players and fans around the world in eagerly watching and hoping that McIlroy could break his Masters curse, deeming it “ridiculous” that he hadn’t won in Augusta before.

During an appearance on GOLF’s Subpar podcast, which was recorded live at The Bank on Hilton Head Island during the RBC Heritage, Bradley told Akshay Bhatia about his joy over McIlroy’s success, despite failing to make the cut himself in his ninth Masters appearance.

He said: “I was nervous watching and I wasn’t playing. I had this feeling that I don’t know if another human being in the golf world has felt that type of pressure ever.

“People can say all they want about these other majors, but the Masters is the biggest one. And to tick that off and win that, you are looking at a lifetime of celebration.

“Forget about the grand slam, you win the Masters, you are doing that until you are 85. And you get to enjoy, you get to celebrate your golf career and it’s something that’s really special. And for a player like Rory not to have that is ridiculous, so I’m excited he did.”

Bradley made two early birdies on the Masters Friday but carded a double-bogey 6 on the seventh hole after missing his drive left and being blocked by trees. After punching out, his approach shot found the bunker short of the green.

Meanwhile, McIlroy decided to take some time off after his monumental victory, missing the RBC Heritage to celebrate with family and unwind back home in Northern Ireland.
