Golf LIVE: PGA Tour take action after Rory McIlroy’s Masters win as star banned

Express Sport keeps you up to date with the latest golf news following last weekend’s Masters.

Rory McIlroy finally landed the Masters title last weekend at the 17th attempt to complete the career Grand Slam. The 35-year-old was in scintillating form at Augusta as he held off Justin Rose to get his hands on the Green Jacket.

McIlroy needed a play-off to get the better of Rose after the two superstars finished level after four rounds. The Northern Irishman then fell to his knees and burst into tears after sinking the winning putt and securing his legacy as one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game.

Rose spoke about his “torment” of missing out on the Augusta prize ahead of his appearance at the RBC Heritage, which gets underway today.

McIlroy typically skips the tournament after the Masters and will give the RBC Heritage a miss as he takes a much-deserved break.

The star will return to the course when he attempts to defend his Zurich Classic of New Orleans title alongside Shane Lowry next weekend.
