How all 12 LIV golfers fared at the Masters

Bryson DeChambeau fell short in his latest Masters bid on Sunday, but he remains the last LIV golfer to win a major championship.

A total of 12 players from the Saudi-backed circuit made the trip down Magnolia Lane, aiming to replicate his success at Pinehurst No.2 last June.

At Augusta, meanwhile, he entered the final round two shots behind McIlroy – and even held a one-shot lead after the second hole – but soon unravelled in drastic fashion.

It meant he was leapfrogged by another LIV golfer.

But without offering any more spoilers, here’s how the LIV golfers got on at this year’s Masters…

Patrick Reed: 3rd, -9

Four consecutive birdies to wrap up his front nine meant 2018 champion Patrick Reed was in contention. That was until a costly bogey on No. 15, where he three-putted from four-feet. He described his week as a ‘lost opportunity’ at a second Green Jacket.

Bryson DeChambeau: T5, -7

A penny for DeChambeau’s thoughts when he left the second green with a one-shot lead. It was all downhill from there, though, back-to-back bogeys on three and four hurt before he found the water on 11 for a double and ruled himself out. Some solace from a second Masters top ten in a row, however.

Bubba Watson: T14, -3

No pine straw miracles this time around, but the Range Goat enjoyed a great week, nonetheless. In fact, his final round 68 was the second lowest on Sunday and marked his 17th Masters appearance as his best since a T12 finish in 2019.

Jon Rahm: T14, -3

The Spaniard said before teeing it up this week that his game was “unfairly judged” last year, based on his results in the major championships. Arguably, he didn’t do that any favours with a T14 finish. A final round 69 was a step in the right direction after never being in contention.

Tyrrell Hatton: T14, -3

A popular leaderboard finish for the LIV golfers this week, and Hatton might feel like this one got away. Unfortunately, the Englishman carded a three-over 75 on Saturday, which derailed his bid. Added misery in the fact he was one shot off finishing inside the top 12 and securing a return.

Joaquin Niemann: T29, E

Niemann arrived with a special invite from Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley and almost immediately looked to be carrying over his LIV Golf form. A two-time winner on the circuit, he was three-under thru four on Thursday and the rest is history.

Charl Schwartzel: T36, +2

The only LIV star to make the cut and finish in the green, Schwartzel enjoyed a solid week from tee to green and that’s about it. Four days of a cold putter didn’t help the 2011 champion, who insisted he will keep coming back for as long as he physically can. Quite right.
