Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson take entirely different approach to Brooks Koepka after Masters woe

While LIV Golf stars Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson fronted up to the media after missing the cut at The Masters, Brooks Koepka opted instead to make a quick exit from Augusta National after a galling finish.

Johnson missed out on playing the weekend by just a single shot after finishing at three-over-par for the tournament. Mickelson and Koepka, who share 11 major titles between them, both finished at five-over, although they got there in very different ways.

Three-time Masters champion Mickelson gave himself a mountain to climb after starting with a three-over-par 75 on Thursday, and he went further in the wrong direction with a 74 on Friday. Five-time major winner Koepka, however, was well placed to make the cut as he reached the 16th hole at one-under-par for the tournament, three shots inside the cut mark.

But the 34-year-old unraveled, bogeying 17 before making a complete mess of the last. He double-crossed his drive and tugged it wide left into the trees. He was forced to chip out sideways before missing the green with his approach.

Koepka chipped onto the dancefloor but three-putted, finishing his round with a quadruple bogey that brought his week to a sour end. Understandably, he was in no mood for talking about his collapse and he declined to attend the mixed zone to speak to reporters.

Mickelson and Johnson, both proud owners of Green Jackets, did face the music, though. “I had a lot of fun,” Mickelson said. “I wish I played better.
