Shane Lowry gets awkward Masters meeting with Bryson DeChambeau after LIV Golf dig

Ahead of the 2025 Masters, Irishman Shane Lowry has ascended the world golf rankings but he doesn’t care that LIV Golf is largely responsible for that fact

Shane Lowry will play alongside Bryson DeChambeau on Thursday at the Masters just days after his LIV Golf ‘bots’ comment.

The Irishman comes into the Masters with three 2025 top-ten finishes and has ascended to 13th in the world. His rise is a combination of both his form and the number of LIV Golf stars who have plummeted as a result of joining the Saudi-backed tour.

On Tuesday, while delivering a bleak merger update, Jon Rahm admitted to not even knowing his world ranking, suggesting it was only a matter of time before he falls out of the top 100. He would join previous major winners Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia in doing so.

But for Lowry, he doesn’t care how he got there. “Well, you’ll get the LIV bots saying the world rankings don’t matter anymore, but I don’t give a s—,” he told the Irish Independent. “I’m pretty happy with that.”

Just days after his ‘bots’ comment, however, Lowry has been grouped with Bryson DeChambeau and Hideki Matsuyama for the first two rounds at the Masters. To make matters worse, the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) ruling is something DeChambeau himself has taken exception to in the past.

“I know their agenda,” he told The Rick Shiels Golf Show. “We know their whole playbook, we see exactly what they’re trying to do.
