The 2025 Masters is due to get underway on Thursday as Jason Day had an important update ahead of the tournament, while Bryson DeChambeau has apologized for his past disrespect

Anticipation is high ahead of the 2025 Masters teeing off on Thursday, with no shortage of headlines ahead of the tournament.

And at least one potential title contender has had a change of heart as they prepare to return to Augusta National. One of those is Jason Day, whose outfit choice is sure to be a topic of interest in Georgia. The Australian snatched attention with his outlandish get-up during last year’s competition and has provided an update on his wardrobe plans this week.

Elsewhere, Bryson DeChambeau has been left with no choice but to apologize for certain Masters comments he made in the past. The Mirror US covers all that and more in the world of golf ahead of one of the biggest dates in the calendar.

Day meets Masters request

Fashion continues to evolve in the world of golf, just like any other sport. But Day received all the wrong kind of attention – at least from Augusta organizers – when he showed out at the Masters last year.

The 2015 PGA Championship winner turned heads thanks to his baggy trousers combined with a similar style sweater vest, which read “No. 313 Malbon Golf Championship” in oversized lettering. It was enough to earn the ire of Masters officials, who made moves to ensure they stay one step ahead of Day’s game in future.

“If they would have let us do what we first put the scripting through to them, it would have been a lot crazier than last year,” he said during a recent appearance on the Dan on Golf show. “But, you know, it’ll be toned down, just because. . .they asked to see the scripting before.”

Even among the four majors, the Masters is regarded as a classy event where golf’s rules are paramount. And while they may have been caught sleeping last year, lawmakers are on full alert regarding Day’s choice of attire this time around.
