LIV Golf has made the decision to stop its players wearing shorts during tournament rounds, according to Bryson DeChambeau, ending the rule originally brought in by former CEO Greg Norman in 2022

Bryson DeChambeau has confirmed LIV Golf ditched the rule allowing to wear shorts during competitive tournament rounds. The rule, which was originally championed by then-CEO Greg Norman back in 2022, meant LIV became the first male professional tour to allow players to wear shorts.

The original decision was said to have been made due to the extreme heat at some of the league’s venues – including the likes of Saudi Arabia, Mayakoba, Adelaide, Singapore and Andalucia. But ahead of the 2025 season, it appeared the rule had been quietly removed, with players seen in long pants instead of shorts.

It was never confirmed by the league, but DeChambeau has now explained the reason behind the move. Speaking to FOX News, the Crushers captain indicated it was done to add more professionalism to tournament play.
