One year, that is how much time Brooks Koepka has left on the LIV Golf circuit. Why, you ask? His reported $100m contract will expire in 2026. Koepka made the highly publicized switch from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in June 2022, but according to golf legend Fred Couples, Koepka may be eyeing a return to the PGA Tour. Couples revealed that he speaks with Koepka “all the time” and believes the 34-year-old is eager to make a comeback to the tour he left behind.

However, Koepka has put the rumors to rest by saying, “Everybody seems to have their own opinion and no one asks me.” An indirect way of saying that he is not going anywhere, but how much truth is in it? Koepka is soon going to be seen with Scottie Scheffler, but how? Well, it’s not on the golf course, at least not in a competitive sense.

The two golfing superstars have teamed up with Rory McIlroy to film Happy Gilmore 2, and the excitement is palpable! Koepka is a friend of McIlroy. “Yeah, Rory’s a good dude. We’ve had some good talks. We get some good laughs out of it because everybody just — all the stuff going on in golf, sometimes you just have to sit there and laugh,” Koepka said.

The prospect of a reunited golf world has excited fans but with merger talks up in the air, they have been nothing but disappointed. But, hey, that may change with this cast! McIlroy was present at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Obviously, the film conversation came up! Talking about it, McIlroy said, “Yeah, it was amazing. I spent two weeks up there. Just really cool to — I did it with — spent a lot of time with Scottie and Brooks and Bryson, sort of the four of us that were up there and filming a lot of the same scenes.”

With Koepka, McIlroy, and Scheffler all on board, the possibilities for future collaborations seem endless. As McIlroy noted, “To be acting alongside — well, ‘acting,’ I don’t know if you could call it acting, we’ll wait and see — with Sandler and all the rest of the cast, it was an unbelievable experience.”

But hold on! This isn’t the first time McIlroy has mentioned Happy Gilmore. Back in 2021, he sent Sandler a video clip celebrating the film’s 25 years. He thanked Sandler for “all the laughs you’ve given us over the years,” and added that Happy Gilmore is one of his favorite movies. Similarly, Scottie Scheffler was active during the press conference and said he’s excited to be a part of the film. Will we see them interacting more in the future, with the film’s promotions coming? Well, that is yet to be seen. This isn’t a surprise to us all, after what McIlroy said about DeChambeau and Co. recently.
