Charley Hull Forced to Relive Nightmare at $2.4 Million LPGA Event, Sparking Sympathy from Golf Community

The nightmare continues for the English golfer! It has been more than 2 years since Charley Hull last won an LPGA Tour event. She nearly broke her losing streak a few hours ago. It seemed that she would until the end of the penultimate round, being only 1 stroke away from Lydia Ko.

But the final round nerves got to her and she went 2-over par 74 to finish 4th in the 2025 HSBC Women’s World Championship. Ko, who is much more familiar with the pressure of the last rounds, kept her cool and secured the win.

Still, it was a tough contest. As Ko herself admitted in her post-win press conference, “Yeah, it’s nerve-wracking but it’s also exciting. It’s not every week we get to contend, and obviously our goal is to be in contention more and more often.”  It’s evident that she too was tense about having Hull breathing down her neck as she was working towards her 23rd LPGA Tour title.

The loss may have been heartbreaking, but that didn’t break Charley Hull‘s spirit. In fact, she shared a post on Instagram sharing her experience in Singapore with her fans. Here’s what she had to say: “Not the finish I wanted today but as always a fantastic event at @hsbcwomensgolf 🔥 Thanks for all the great local support❤️ Always a pleasure to play with @lydsko and congrats on another impressive win.”

Despite not winning, Hull had a lot of positives to pick from the tournament. It was great to see her perform so well, even if she couldn’t convert it into a triumph. The fans also shared the same sentiment as they sympathized with their favorite LPGA Tour star. Let’s see what they had to say in the comments section.

Charley Hull receives unconditional support

Being a much-loved figure in golf, Charley Hull was bound to receive a lot of support. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that she was backed by her fans when she shared the post of her loss. One of the fans said, “Charley, tough day but great tournament. You are always a class act. Best wishes for a great 2025. ❤️❤️❤️”It was indeed a great tournament as she was one of the favorites to win it after the third round.

This was Hull’s first appearance in the HSBC Women’s World Championship since 2022. And one of the fans was happy to see her return to the event after being away from it for 2 years. They said, “So glad to finally see you in Singapore, Charley!!🔥🔥🙌🙌 Those close putts were such a pity🥲 Rooting for you always 🙌🙌” They were also understanding of the near misses Hull had that could have changed the trajectory of the tournament had they gone in.

Charley Hull has always had a never-die attitude and her fans complement that. As someone commented, “Keep pressing, Charley! Your class will come through in future tournaments.” They believe that the English golfer will get back to winning ways soon enough.
