Nine months after the tragic passing of professional golfer Grayson Murray, his parents, Eric and Terry Murray, have spoken publicly for the first time, sharing their profound grief and cherished memories of their son. In an emotional interview on the Today show, they recounted Grayson’s struggles with mental health issues, including alcohol abuse, anxiety, and depression. Despite his notable achievements on the PGA Tour, such as winning the Sony Open and earning a Masters invitation in 2024, Grayson faced personal battles that he often concealed from the public eye. His parents revealed that their home served as a sanctuary during his depressive episodes, providing him with a sense of safety and comfort. Tragically, on May 25, 2024, Grayson took his own life, a day after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge. In the immediate aftermath, Eric and Terry expressed their devastation, stating, “We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare.”
