I’m pretty realistic” – Jordan Spieth drops truthbomb on his ‘progress’ after WM Phoenix Open finish

Jordan Spieth may not have lifted the trophy at the WM Phoenix Open 2025, but the three-time major champion remains optimistic about his progress after a strong showing at TPC Scottsdale. Despite feeling he played better than his final-round score suggested, Spieth believes his T4 finish is a sign that his game is trending in the right direction.
Spieth’s Performance at WM Phoenix Open 2025
On Sunday, February 9, Spieth carded a 3-under 68 in the final round, bringing his tournament total to 16-under after four rounds. He finished eight strokes behind winner Thomas Detry, but his consistency throughout the week marked a significant step forward in his return to top form.
“A Big Progress Week”
In his post-round interview, Spieth reflected on his performance with optimism, emphasizing that this wasn’t just a one-off good week but rather a step forward in his comeback journey.
“I feel really good. I would have liked one more. I felt like I played a little better than 3-under today, just like the first round, but I got a little extra out of the other couple of days. All in all, it was a big progress week for me,” Spieth said.
Acknowledging that he still has room to fine-tune his game, Spieth highlighted areas he aims to improve, particularly his tee-to-green play and putting.
“It’s a little bit of a monkey off the back,” he added. “A little bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders, just feeling like I have a little bit of house money now, which I play a little bit better from. Everybody I think does.”
Looking Ahead
Spieth, who underwent wrist surgery in 2024 and missed nearly six months of action, returned to competition at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week. His T4 finish at the WM Phoenix Open marked his best result in over a year, giving him confidence as he moves forward in the season.
“I’d like to take it into a strong next week and then start working myself more consistently into contention,” Spieth stated, signaling his intent to continue building momentum and work his way back to competing for titles regularly.
With his game showing signs of resurgence, Spieth’s fans will be eager to see if he can capitalize on this progress and push for victories in the weeks ahead.
