Jordan Spieth last teed it up on the PGA Tour at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August, the first of three FedEx Cup Playoff events. He finished the week in a share of 68th. Two weeks later, the Texan announced on social media that he underwent left wrist surgery and was focused on rest and rehab. According to the Associated Press’ Doug Ferguson, Spieth will make his return to the Tour at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Jan. 30-Feb. 2.

“I think I’m trying to look big picture,” he told the AP. “I don’t want to put too much pressure on a hot start. I just want to get back into a rhythm. This is by far the longest I’ve gone between tournament rounds.”

In 22 starts last season, Spieth finished inside the top 20 just three times, all before the Masters (The Sentry, WM Phoenix Open and Valero Texas Open).

“I think the biggest goals for me,” he said, “I want to feel like I step on the tee and I know I’m one of the best golfers in the world — I have no doubts about that when I step on the tee. I want things to be in place where I feel consistent enough to believe that day in and day out. It has to do with being on runs where you’re finishing in the top 10, top 15 every week.

“I know that feeling. That’s the feeling I want to get back to.”

Across 12 career starts at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Spieth has six top-10 finishes including a win in 2017. The event is once again a signature event, with a $20 million purse and a $3.6 million first-place prize.
