The new season of golf is showcasing everything that fans didn’t expect. Since the beginning, injuries of top names in golf came in, while later, new partnerships overcoming older ones took the news. And now it’s time for both, with the latest update. After the Sentry, which is a limited-player event, The Sony Open in Hawaii is the first full-field event that will showcase a great list of golfer’s participation.

With 144 players’ list released, they will be competing for the purse of $8.7 million. The opening drive will be special for some, while others will miss the field due to injury. Scottie Scheffler, who is still recovering, will be away from the field for the year’s second event. While Jordan Spieth, who played his last event in August, will also be skipping the event.

The 3-time major champion due to wrist surgery is still recovering and taking longer to enter the field. Earlier, when he was seen on the field was asked in an interview with Golfweek about his recovery, for which he shared that his prospective comeback would be at the Sony Open in Hawaii. However, with the latest list of players shared by the PGA Tour on X, the shock to fans is delivered yet again.

Earlier at the Sentry, Max Homa, and Jordan Spieth’s caddie was a great shock, while now his participation has been a new one. Though Michael Greller was a temporary caddie for Homa, as his caddie was stuck with some personal commitments. However, the temporary commitment was made amid the recovery of Speith and his comeback at the event. However, that isn’t exactly the case.

He is missing the event, which will be a tough call for him as he has already slipped from the FedExCup ranking. But other players in the event will make sure to get the best out of the opening drive. With some prominent names featuring the event, it will be a delight to watch.
