Tiger Woods recently expressed his opinion on the performance of Scottie Scheffler in the Hero World Challenge on December 9, 2024. The legendary golfer was talking about him after watching him win a tournament after a gap in Sheffler’s career that lasted for three months.

Woods seems to be impressed by Scheffler’s skills and performance. Just like Woods in 2009, he finished the year by staying at the No.1 spot. Sheffler has earned 727 ranking points in 2024, leaving behind popular golfers like Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele. While Woods competed in all four Majors in 2000, he crossed the 700 mark every time. Scheffler might be far from matching Woods’ record, but he is already setting the bar high with similar feats.

In a report published by BBC.com, Tiger Woods expressed his take while he was live at the booth:

“If you stand behind him and watch the ball flight it is very tight either way. Yes, he’s making a significant number of birdies, but he’s not making any mistakes. No doubles, no loose bogeys here and there.”

“You know he can do it either way. You can see it around his short game and trajectory control into greens. If he has consistency on the greens he’s going to finish top 10 every week and pick off a lot (of wins).”

Scottie Scheffler wowed Tiger Woods with his unique footwork which was in his words “the contortions he get into”. The legendary golfer made it clear through his words that Woods loves how Sheffler controls his strikes. The 2024 Hero World Challenge winner finished with a total of 25 under-par, earning 210 points. He finished his championship win with nine birdies in Round 4 in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes.
