2024 Hero World Challenge odds, expert picks, DFS: Scottie Scheffler is back for Tiger Woods’ tourney

Twenty of the world’s best golfers will be headed to Albany in New Providence, Bahamas, this week after accepting Tiger Woods’ invitation to play in the Hero World Challenge. The field this week will be one of the weakest in recent memory for the tournament, as it includes only three of the world’s current top 10 golfers. Those who are making the trip will get the bonus of official world ranking points in this small-field, no-cut event.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is making the trip, and why wouldn’t he after finishing second in 2021 and ’22 before winning in 2023, a victory that helped springboard his tremendous 2024 season.

With question marks around the overall sharpness of some of the golfers in this field, I am once again leaning toward playing a very small amount when it comes to betting and crafting Daily Fantasy Lineups. I am looking forward to watching some competitive golf Sunday instead of torturing myself by watching another Jets or Giants game. I would love to see which takes longer: Keegan Bradley standing over a short putt or Evan Neal getting out of his stance as he watches another defensive end run around him on the way to the Giants’ quarterback.

The golfers in the field will be teeing it up on a unique, resort-style golf course. With five Par 3s and five Par 5s scattered over the Par 72 track that stretches 7,400 yards, the golfers will have plenty of chances to score.

Scottie Scheffler’s tournament record (-20) seems to be a nice aiming point for everyone this week, but they will need to be sharp with their short play as Albany ranks first on the PGA Tourschedule when it comes to strokes gained around the green.

The inevitable breezes on this shore golf course help protect the greens, which average a little over 4,500 square feet.
