Golf analyst responds to Lexi Thompson’s statement being “very sad” with LPGA’s current situation

Lexi Thompson is set to retire following the conclusion of the season-ending 2024 CME Group Tour Championship. The LPGA Tour superstar took to her Instagram platform to comment on the tournament committee’s decision to split tee times.

For what could be her final start as a professional golfer, Thompson started her final round of the CME Group Tour Championship on the 10th hole, meaning she would complete the round on the ninth hole. The 11-time LPGA Tour winner was left disappointed as she hoped to see all her fans on the green for her final hole.

“Curious situation on the LPGA, which is splitting tees on Sunday at Tour Championship to accommodate TV. Did the LPGA/NBC decide 60 players couldn’t complete 18 holes by the 4 PM end of the broadcast window? Or did they split in order to put all the stars on course at once, inadvertently upsetting Lexi in perhaps her last run? Either way, seems not great!”
