Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder, high school sweethearts, recently welcomed their first child in May, 2024.

This year has been remarkable for Scottie, as he clinched victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championshipin March, followed by his second Masters win and the Heritage Classic in April. May brought the joy of fatherhood, and in June, he celebrated another triumph at the Memorial Tournament—his first PGA Tour win since becoming a dad. Meredith and their son, Bennett, were there to cheer him on.

Throughout this incredible journey, Meredith has been Scottie’s steadfast supporter. Reflecting on his first Masters win in 2022, Scottie shared how she helps him maintain perspective. “My identity isn’t a golf score. Like Meredith told me this morning, ‘If you win this golf tournament today, if you lose this golf tournament by 10 shots, if you never win another golf tournament again,’ she goes, ‘I’m still going to love you, you’re still going to be the same person, Jesus loves you and nothing changes.'” So, who is Meredith Scheffler? Here’s everything you need to know about Scottie Scheffler’s wife.

Meredith hails from Texas

Meredith was born in 1996 to her parents, Mark and Michele Scudder. She has two older siblings: an older brother named Andrew and a sister named Stephanie.

She met Scottie in high school

Meredith met Scottie during their time in high school at Highland Park High School, graduating together in 2014. She shared with Golf Digest, “In the early days of high school, I always felt he had this really humble vibe, like he was just a genuine, down-to-earth person who didn’t take himself too seriously. Even with all his impressive achievements, that wasn’t what defined him.” They began dating in their senior year and maintained a long-distance relationship throughout college—Meredith attended Texas A&M University while Scottie went to the University of Texas.

Engaged and married in 2020

The couple got engaged and married in 2020, tying the knot on December 4 at Arlington Hall in Texas. They now reside in Dallas, Texas. Scottie mentioned in an interview, “Dallas quickly felt like home for us as kids, and I can’t really picture living anywhere else. Most of her family is here, and so is mine. So, Dallas is definitely home for us.”

She is employed part-time at Behind Every Door.

Meredith works part-time at Behind Every Door. She serves as the director of curating opportunities for this Christian community center organization. According to her bio on the nonprofit’s website, “After graduating, she spent two years as a Middle School resident at Park Cities Presbyterian Church. Once that chapter ended, Meredith enjoyed volunteering and connecting with various organizations in Dallas. In 2020, she felt a strong pull towards Behind Every Door, and both she and her husband fell in love with its mission. She started working part-time for Behind Every Door in December 2021 and is incredibly thankful to be part of this amazing team, witnessing daily how B.E.D. is building relationships and expanding His Kingdom.”

Meredith became a mother in May

Meredith and Scottie welcomed their first child, a son named Bennett, on May 8, 2024. Scottie shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, “Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much.” Before Bennett’s arrival, Scottie expressed, “Sitting at home, waiting for our child to be born and then bringing him home was such a unique experience. Sometimes, we see just the kid in each other, and taking on the responsibility of another life is quite a remarkable thing for us.” He continued, “I can’t quite put into words the feeling of dreaming about playing on the PGA Tour, then finding myself at home with the girl I dated in high school and our child, while the Green Jacket sits in the closet. It’s an incredible feeling, and I just want to express my gratitude.”
