Bryson DeChambeau shares his view on LIV Golf ban as Presidents Cup kicks off without him

Bryson DeChambeau, despite being heartbroken over his exclusion, will be eagerly watching the Presidents Cup on TV.

The event, akin to the Ryder Cup but featuring a U.S. team against an international side from outside Europe, kicks off on Thursday in Montreal, Canada.

LIV Golf participants like DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka are barred from the biennial contest due to their switch to the controversial Saudi-funded circuit last year.

This ban, which was also recently lifted for the Ryder Cup, represents a significant drawback for DeChambeau, who left the PGA Tour and has a strong affinity for team golf competitions.

Nonetheless, as a true enthusiast of the game, it’s expected that the US Open winner will be keenly observing the proceedings from Montreal. Before the 2022 Presidents Cup, DeChambeau expressed his thoughts on the exclusion of LIV Golf players.

He remarked: “I personally think that the team events are only hurting themselves by not allowing us to play, not allowing us to qualify through some capacity, in some facet.

“I’m a golf fan, first and foremost. I’m going to watch golf wherever it’s played with some of the best players in the world, whoever it is.

“I think down the road that’ll change. I think that this will become something special, even more special than what it is now, and moving forward in the future, I’ll still watch other tournaments that I’ve won and done well at before.”
