At the Kroger Queen City Championship, Charley Hull took a moment to reflect on the upcoming Solheim Cup and her thoughts on potential captains for the 2026 edition. Speaking at a pre-tournament press conference, Hull expressed her admiration for Mel Reid, calling her one of her “favorite people on this planet.
Hull emphasized Reid’s unique ability to bring both a fun and serious atmosphere to the team, which she believes would make her an excellent captain. Having played alongside Reid on multiple Solheim Cup teams, Hull is confident in her leadership potential, especially after Reid’s role as an assistant captain.
Hull also mentioned Anna Nordqvist as a strong candidate, although she feels Nordqvist should still compete as a player in the next Solheim Cup. While Suzann Pettersen’s tenure as captain may be nearing its end, Hull’s endorsement of both Reid and Nordqvist highlights the depth of talent and leadership within the European team. Hull’s close relationship with Reid, forged through years of partnership, further strengthens her belief that Reid would bring a perfect balance of camaraderie and competitiveness to the role.
