Scottie Scheffler has enjoyed a stunning 2024, winning a second Masters title in April and then rounding off the year by taking the FedEx Cup, which alone banked him 19m

Scottie Scheffler has shed light on his financial agreement with his caddie after earning nearly $50m this year alone. The American golfer had a stellar 2024, clinching his second Masters title in April and ending the year by winning the FedEx Cup, which netted him $19m.

He also secured numerous PGA Tour titles and top-10 finishes. In staggering figures, Scheffler raked in an average of $2.5 million per tournament, $628,000 per round, and £9,000 per shot. This significantly boosted the earnings of his caddie, Ted Scott, who is unparalleled among bag carriers.

Even before Scheffler won the FedEx Cup, Scott had already earned just over $2million on the PGA Tour. This would have ranked him 58th on the PGA Tour players’ money list, even surpassing three-time major winner Jordan Spieth, a close friend of Scheffler’s.

Typically, a caddie earns 10 percent of their player’s victory purse, 7 percent for a top 10 finish, and 5 percent for anything else. Given the enormous amounts involved, Scheffler has people managing his finances, reports the Express.

Explaining how it works with Scott, the 28-year-old revealed on the Pardon My Take podcast: “We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I’m a child and I can’t keep track of all that stuff!

“She quickly took over that job and texts me at the end of each week, saying, “Hey, this is how much we’re paying Ted”. I’m like, “That’s great”.”

Scott, who toted Bubba Watson’s clubs for a decade and a half, and Scheffler were part of the same bible study circle before teaming up. Scheffler has shared that it was Scott’s faith that sealed the deal when he chose him as his caddie.

The top golfer once confessed: “I just think the world of him as a person so that was why I was attracted to him just being a potential good partner for me out on the course. I really want to work with a Christian. That’s how I try to live my life.”
