Bryson DeChambeau shows where his priorities lie amid farcical PGA Tour and LIV Golf update

DeChambeau, like many in the golf world, appeared to tune out the most recent remarks from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan on a LIV Golf merger, instead promoting his YouTube channel

Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour’smuddled negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the upstart LIV Golf league have grown tiresome for many fans, offering another non-substantive update at Saturday’s annual end-of-the-season press conference in Atlanta.

And as the veteran commissioner stated there’s “no deadline” for an agreement, continuing to ignore the December 31, 2023 target date, American golf star Bryson DeChambeau appeared similarly disinterested, focusing on promoting his growing YouTube channel over Monahan’s remarks.

DeChambeau wrote the following on X while Monahan spoke in Atlanta: “Kicking off a new ‘Course Record’ series on YouTube—just dropped the first episode today. Shot a solid 65 but fell a few short of the course’s current record (63). Let me know if you guys want more of these and what public courses I should play next?”

The star American golfer stands as one of the most identifiable names with the ongoing LIV Golf and PGA Tour, initially pledging to remain stateside before joining the Saudi league, joining nearly 50 of the world’s top-150 ranked golfers in defecting.

For decades, the PGA Tour stood as the preeminent competition for golfers worldwide, but the division of this talent across two leagues has left many fans decrying a dipping standard in talent and competitiveness. Still, Monahan insisted that the PGA Tour remains as compelling as ever, highlighting the league’s positive economic trends in recent years.
