Golf fans stunned by PGA Tour player’s actions at Wyndham Championship

Patrick Rodgers made one of the most peculiar decisions of the PGA Tour season during the third round of the Wyndham Championship.

When the cameraman panned to Patrick Rodgers standing in the middle of the 6th green contemplating a 35-footer for birdie with a wedge to hand, everyone feared the worst for his putter.

‘What’s he doing?!’ cried those in the PGA Tour LIVE commentary box.

Only it quickly came to light that Rodgers hadn’t broken his putter.

He just fancied trying something different.

Rodgers wanted to take the break out of his right to left birdie putt.

It proved to be a shocking decision.

The PGA Tour LIVE commentary team – and a number of golf fans on social media – were left baffled as to why Rodgers wouldn’t just elect to putt his ball over to the right side of the green and let it trundle down towards the cup.

It looked doable to say the least.

But Rodgers thought better of the shot in hand and chipped his ball towards the hole.

He was hoping for a bit of check but it sadly didn’t come and his ball sailed past the hole and off the front of the green.
