Scottie Scheffler’s caddie has now earned more than four former world No.1s after latest bonus

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie has earned an insane amount of money this year.

Ted Scott, who has caddied for Scheffler since the start of the 2022 season, has been raking it in thanks to the World No. 1’s dominant performances this year. The 28-year-old PGA Tour star has won six tournaments in 2024, including The Mastersback in April.

From those wins, Scheffler has earned a mind-boggling $23.3million (£18.4m), while performances in other events have pulled in $4.3m (£3.4m). Overall, he’s amassed roughly $15m (£11.8m) more than Xander Schauffele, who is in second place on the earnings list this year.

All of this is fantastic news for Scott, who’s entitled to a percentage of Scheffler’s winnings. The precise nature of the contract between Scheffler and Scott isn’t known, but it’s typical for a caddie to earn 10% of a player’s prize money when he wins, 7% for a top-10 finish and 5% for making the cut.

As such, it’s estimated that Scott, 50, has made around $2.6m (£2m) this year, which is more than several former World No. 1s including Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Adam Scott. Scott’s earnings would’ve been given another boost this weekend after Scheffler won the Travelers Championship.

Scheffler has earned so much prize money in 2024 that he’s now ranked fifth on the PGA Tour all-time earnings list, with $70.3m (£55.3m) secured. As a standalone, his earnings in the last six months would place him 72nd on the all-time list.

Tiger Woods tops the charts with over $120m (£95m) in career earnings. Woods is also the only player to have raked in more than $100m. Rory McIlroy is second on $90.1m (£71m), while Jim Furyk ($71.5m) and Vijay Singh ($71.3m) are in third and fourth place respectively.

Scott used to caddie for Bubba Watson and helped guide the American to two surprise Masters victories in 2012 and again in 2014. Eight years later he guided another unfancied American to a green jacket, helping Scheffler claim his first major triumph with a win at Augusta in 2022, before repeating the feat in 2024.

Those four wins put Scott joint-second on the most successful caddies list. Only two caddies have won more than four majors, with Willie Peterson winning five alongside Jack Nicklaus and William “Pappy” Stokes winning the same number while caddying for the likes of Henry Picard, Claude Harmon, Ben Hogan and Jack Burke Jr.
