World No.1 golfer Scottie Scheffler won his sixth PGA Tour title of the year at the Travelers Championship on Sunday to continue his remarkable 2022 season

Golf presenter Amanda Balionis shared an adorable Instagram post showering praises over world No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler and his wife following a recent PGA Tour victory.

As part of the CBS Sports team, Balionis was present at the Travelers Championship last weekend, witnessing Scheffler continue on his rampant successful streak at the TPC River Highlands. A thrilling playoff win over Tom Kim marked the sixth PGA win of the year for Scheffler, as both competitors concluded on -22 on Sunday.

Scheffler took time to garner in the victorious moment by convening with his wife Meredith and their newborn baby Bennett, right after stepping off the course. Balionis captured this intimate family scene during her interview with the 28 year old, who held six-week-old Bennett in his arms throughout, sharing it on her Instagram account afterwards.

Her heartfelt message oozed respect for the golfer: “Today, @scottie.scheffler becomes the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1962 (! ! ) to win SIX times before July 1st,” she penned.

“His bounce back ability-from a disappointing week last week, and the unexpected events on the 72nd hole- continues to be the standard.

“To watch Scottie’s pure joy the moment he steps off the course to celebrate with Bennett and @meredithscheffler is one of the cooler things we get to witness this season. World Number 1 does it again.”

Scheffler sailed to a win at the Masters in April, though there were doubts about his participation as his wife Meredith was close to giving birth. He had stated he’d exit the tournament immediately if she went into labour.

Luckily for him, his triumph at Augusta wasn’t disrupted as baby Bennett arrived the next month.

The world’s top golfer managed to stay composed on the course despite an interruption during the final round at the Travelers’ Championship when six climate activists stormed the 18th green just as the final putts were being prepared. The protesters set off smoke bombs and sprayed powder on the green, donning t-shirts proclaiming: “No golf on a dead planet”.

They were apprehended by the authorities amidst chants of ‘USA’ from spectators as they were escorted out. After clinching victory over his good mate Kim, Scheffler confessed it was a mix of emotions. “It’s fun competing against your friends,” he commented.

“But at the same time, it’s difficult. Because part of me wants him to miss the putt and part of me wants him to make the putt… But he should remember that putt he made on 18, because it was pretty special. And he’s a great player and a great champion.”
