Video: Jordan Spieth Mocks His Lip-Out Putt at 2024 Travelers Championship

Some days lady luck isn’t on your side and Jordan Spieth can speak from experience.

During the third round of the Travelers Championship on Saturday, Spieth had a par putt on the 14th hole run along the back lip of the cup and roll out. He mockingly gave a thumbs up before settling for a bogey.

At least this wasn’t the most brutal stroke of misfortune on the green for the three-time major champion. One of his putts during the Ryder Cup seemingly defied the laws of physics when it rolled around the entire lip and came to a halt centimeters from the edge.

Spieth could make light of his tough break at TPC River Highlands because he had already eliminated himself from contention well before the putt. He shot an even-par 70 in the opening round before going two under in the second. As a result, he was well off the pace of the leaders through 36 holes.

The 30-year-old finished at two over for the third round. Back-to-back birdies on the back nine got him under par before he had three straight bogeys.

Spieth entered the clubhouse in a tie for 61st in the 70-man field.

That sarcastic thumbs up and fist pump sums up a lot of his tournament.
