Not even for hundreds of millions of dollars” – Schauffele’s father slams LIV links

Xander Schauffele’s father, Stefan has said that rumours of his son defecting to LIV Golf following his PGA Championship win are not on the cards.

Schauffele broke through to win his maiden major championship on Sunday night with a birdie on the 72nd hole as he held off Bryson DeChambeau.

The American is now exempt into the PGA Championship for the rest of his career and he is guaranteed a spot in the other three majors for the next three years.

Such job security prompted rumours that he might jump from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in the coming months but Schauffele told Golf.com that a move to the Saudi backed tour is a million miles off.

No chance,” Stefan Schauffele said in an interview published Monday. “Xander is not chasing the money. Xander is about legacy. And as my opinion, just as his father, there was never a chance.”

Schauffele is the swing coach for his son, Xander and he confirmed that the family did listen to offers from LIV in the past with Xander and Patrick Cantlay constantly linked with moves over the last two seasons.

“What we told LIV in Saudi Arabia, with Xander beside me, was that if there is no path back to the PGA Tour and if there is no chance at World Ranking points we do not have anything to talk about,” Stefan Schauffele said.
